Cassava Saves Nigeria 200 Billion Naira

The 20 per cent cassava substitution for wheat in bread making , a development given birth to by the government's policy on importation of
wheat, saves Nigeria 200 billion Naira yearly, the Minister of Agriculture
says.

Addressing reporters in Ayede Ekiti in Ekiti State, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, promised to provide one million Naira each to 35 small and medium enterprises for infrastructure development and to support the cassava bread bakers.

He added that the Agricultural Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government had added value to the Agriculture sector and had supported
Nigerian farmers to boost productivity.
Eat More Of Cassava Bread It is also expected to provide for 36 cassava bread bakers, empowering them to achieve their dreams.

The Minister also advised Nigerians to eat more of cassava bread.

Dr. Adesina explained that the sum of 3.5 billion Naira had so far been expended on the upgrading of facilities for small and medium scale enterprises
to boost the economy and encourage
entrepreneurs.

At the briefing, the commissioner for Agriculture in Ekiti State, Babajide Arowosafe, commended the efforts of the Federal Government and also
explained what the State government had done in the areas of agriculture.
The Minister and his entourage had earlier visited the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, before moving to Ayede Ekiti.
